
Marie is a Shareholder and practice leader of the firm's Appellate Practice Group. Her practice is principally devoted to handling appeals on a broad range of civil and administrative matters. In addition, she assists the firm's litigation groups with complex legal and procedural issues and with the preparation of substantive legal memoranda. Marie has appeared extensively before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Florida Supreme Court, and Florida's District Courts of Appeal.
In addition to representing clients in a broad range of appellate matters, Marie also specializes in handling property tax, real estate and land use appeals. Marie has represented major corporate clients in successfully challenging real and personal property tax assessments, and has assisted real estate developers in overcoming land use challenges by local governmental authorities.
Marie also volunteers her time to her alma mater, Duke University, and to her community. As a member of the Duke University Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee, Marie interviews local students applying for admission to Duke. She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for St. John Episcopal Parish and Day School. She formerly served on the Board of Trustees of The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc., and on the Board of Directors of The Tampa Club.
