John is a Shareholder in the firm’s Corporate and Tax Group. John’s practice involves federal and state tax advice, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and partnerships and joint ventures.
Prior to joining the firm, John practiced in the Chicago office of the international law firm of Mayer Brown, concentrating on the tax aspects of a wide range of corporate, partnership and financial transactions. In Tampa, he regularly provides tax-planning advice in a variety of transactions. He also represents venture capital funds in private equity and loan transactions, investors and developers in real estate transactions, and buyers and sellers with stock and asset acquisitions and sales. John also represents companies in corporate transactions including designing deferred compensation programs, fundraising, commercial transactions and strategic business alliances.
John led the firm's engagement as Florida state tax counsel to a public company in connection with a $100 million securities offering. He serves as federal tax and corporate counsel to a tenancy-in-common sponsor in syndicated tenancy-in-common transactions in the Southeast.
John is active in the tax sections of The Florida Bar and American Bar Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Tampa Bay Chapter.Joint Ventures and Partnerships
