Carolina is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Group. Her practice covers an array of commercial litigation matters in federal and state court, with experience representing clients in a wide variety of business disputes. Carolina focuses on the defense of attorneys and law firms in professional liability actions. She also defends international pharmaceutical and steel companies in products liability actions involving negligence and consumer fraud claims. Carolina is further experienced in the defense of complex ERISA litigation, specifically in the context of collectively-bargained retiree healthcare benefits.
In 2013, Carolina served as a temporary judicial law clerk for The Honorable James D. Whittemore at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. In addition to her litigation practice, Carolina serves as outside counsel for healthcare entities needing assistance with physician credentialing issues, peer review disputes, revocation of physician privileges, reporting requirements, and hospital-conducted administrative hearings. Carolina is involved with the American Bar Association, serving as a Commissioner and Young Lawyer Liaison to the Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities. Carolina was appointed to also serve as a Commissioner for the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence. While in law school at Vanderbilt University, Carolina participated in the Family Law and Domestic Violence Clinic where she represented indigent victims of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection, and served as the Guardian ad Litem for children in dependency and neglect cases. Carolina was also the Development Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law where she helped organize the 2012 Symposium “Copyright & Creativity: Perspectives on Fixation, Authorship, & Expression.” In her spare time, Carolina enjoys live music, afternoons at the beach with a good book, and traveling with family and friends.
