Attorney Tori C. Simmons Honored With Outstanding Pro Bono Service By A Young Lawyer Award

Hill Ward Henderson proudly announces that attorney Tori C. Simmons is the recipient of the 2018 Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Young Lawyer Award. Ms. Simmons will be recognized with this award at the Pro Bono Service Awards Ceremony, held on April 19, 2018.

Since beginning her practice at Hill Ward Henderson in 2013, Ms. Simmons has been dedicated to providing service through multiple legal and non-legal organizations in the community. In 2017, Ms. Simmons contributed 179 pro bono hours representing poor citizens in the community through organizations such as the Bay Area Volunteers Lawyer Program (BAVLP), Project H.E.L.P. clinic at Metropolitan Ministries, Crossroads for Florida Kids, and more. 

When asked to describe her experience as a pro bono attorney for children in foster care, Ms. Simmons stated, “As an attorney, I feel that I have a responsibility to provide legal services to those in my community who lack access to representation. Even though sometimes it feels as though providing legal representation is not enough, it is the way that I can help the most.”

Since 2015, Ms. Simmons has served as the pro bono coordinator for Hill Ward Henderson, where she encourages firm wide and individual attorney participation in various pro bono programs, and assists firm training with their pro bono projects. In 2017, Ms. Simmons dedicated 146 hours in promoting pro bono legal services through her role at Hill Ward Henderson, and as co-chair of the Thirteen Judicial Circuit’s Pro Bono Committee’s Law Firm Subcommittee. 

Ms. Simmons is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Group. Her practice primarily focuses on complex commercial business litigation. Ms. Simmons represents clients in a variety of business disputes and class action litigation in state and federal court. In addition to her general commercial litigation practice, she represents individuals and firms in professional liability matters.
