Cory J. Person Selected to Join the international Association of Defense Counsel

Hill Ward Henderson is pleased to announce that Cory J. Person has been nominated to join the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).

The IADC is an invitation-only association for lawyers and insurance executives who represent corporate and insurance interests around the world. Its members are distinguished partners in large and small law firms, senior counsel in corporate and insurance law departments, and insurance executives. The core purpose of the IADC is to enhance the development of skills, professionalism, and camaraderie to serve and benefit the members, their clients, as well as the civil justice system, the legal profession, and society in general.

The IADC has been serving a distinguished membership of corporate and insurance defense attorneys and insurance executives since 1920. Its activities benefit the approximately 2,500 invitation-only, peer reviewed members and their clients, as well as the civil justice system and the legal profession. Moreover, the IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform and professional development.

Person is a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation and Employment Law groups. His practice is primarily focused on the defense of products liability, premises liability, negligent security, general negligence and complex tort claims.  Person also has extensive experience representing employers in litigation arising out of discrimination, harassment and non-competition agreements. 

Person is active in both professional and Bar-related organizations.  He currently serves as a Board Director of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and is a two-term past president of the George Edgecomb Bar Association.  He also serves on the Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee, and is a member of the J. Clifford Cheatwood Inn of Court and Defense Research Institute (DRI).  

Prior to law school, Person served as an enlisted non-commissioned officer in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Among the awards he received for his service are the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
